PEF Membership Benefits Program offers several payroll deducted voluntary                 insurance programs, in addition to the following free coverages.

Free Coverages

PEF members are automatically covered under the following three programs:

Assault Trauma and Captivity (ATAC) Insurance - a benefit may be payable if, while in pursuit of occupational duties, a member is attacked or held hostage. New Employees must be in a PEF represented position for 6 months and a dues paying member to be eligible for coverage. Click here to learn more about this program. Agency Shop Fee Payers are not covered under this benefit.
$15,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment - this benefit is payable if an active member of PEF suffers a bodily injury in an accident and within 90 days after the accident, death occurs as a direct result of the accident. Half the benefit may be paid for the loss of a hand, foot or eye as a result of the accident. New Employees must be in a PEF represented position for 6 months and a dues paying member to be eligible for coverage. Click here to learn more about this program. Legal Defense Benefit - this benefit provides PEF members with legal representation and advice in the event of a criminal investigation resulting from the discharge of their official, employer-issued (or employer approved) weapon, while the member is acting within the scope of his/her New York State employment or job duties.
